Events 2017 


We are looking forward to joining together again for this year's New Zealand Club Hangi. The Hangi is always a big success with loads of fun for all the family and ages alike and this year we know it will be the same great event. As usual there will be a limit of 100 people so please don’t forget to register. We are always looking for people to help with preparing food and setting and or clearing up so if you would like to be involved please get in touch with us at This email address is being protected from spambots. Where:           Waldhutte, Aesch bei Birmensdorf

Date:              Sunday 27th August

Bring:             Either a salad or dessert to share. Drinks for the before and after party. NZ wine, mineral water, iced tea, soft drinks, tea and coffee will be served with the meal.

Cost                20chf per person (don’t forget your membership fee of 40chf per family if you haven’t already paid). Children under 18 free

Directions:     The best way is to travel by public transport (you can enjoy a few drinks)

                        Good connections to/from Zurich HB with trip taking only 23 min. S9 to Birmensdorf and change to Bus 215 direction Affoltern am Albis. Get out at Aesch Gemeindehaus and follow “Waldhutte“ signs up hill (Lielistrasse), about a 10min walk.

                        S9 leaves Zurich HB every 30 min at x.04 and x.34.

                        Getting home - On Sunday evening bus leaves Aesch Gemeindehaus every 60 min at x.58 (last bus at 23.58). S9 trains leave Birmensdorf every 30 min at x.09 and x.39 (last train at 00.39).

Parking:         There is car parking available but it is limited.

Summer Walk

Where: Meet at Parking place Auslikon Badi

Date:   Sunday July 16th

Time:  10am at Auslikon Badi

About: This is 3,7 km or approximately an hour. Others can take the longer way around the lake and meet up at

           Jucker Farm (8km or 2hours)

Cost:   Free

Other: At Jucker Farm it ist possible to buy food (you can't bring your own there). There is a maze and other

          activities   for the kids. Bring your togs for a nice swim at the Auslikon Badi.



British and Irish Lions Rugby Tour in New Zealand

The Lion Pub will be opening early on the International Test dates to show the touring British and Ireland Lions play the All Blacks. Come and join expat and local rugby supporters in the heart of Zurich, watch these exciting games as the Lions take on the World Champions. The New Zealand Club of Switzerland invite our members to join in the excitement. The NZ Club has provided the Lion Pub a Rugby Jersey at each of the three games to give away. Join us for all three games and go in the draw to win a Official Rugby shirt. Pie Tribe, a Swiss Company owned and operated by a Kiwi, will be giving away 30 Breakfast Pies to the first 30 guests for each of these tests. The Lion Pub is located in the centre of Zurich’s shopping district, is a child and dog friendly venue and a great place to stay on after the match. Join other Kiwi’s to watch the matches, have a pie and after the game, enjoy a traditional English Pub meal before exploring the city’s picturesque Limmat River, or the stunning views of the Swiss Alps from Zurich’s lakefront. If you have a group of mates and want to reserve space, you can do so through The Lion Pubs Website or Facebook page

Wahoo!! Its nearly Christmas!! As with every year we would like to celebrate kiwi style here in Zurich. The afternoon will start with a crafts table for the kids and good old natter for the adults while the wee nippers are occupied. The jolly fat fellow in red will fly in with gifts* for the kids and after these have all been opened we will all enjoy afternoon tea. Yum.

Wine Tasting


Our annual Wine Tasting event will not disappoint. This year Australian Tim Magnus who loves sharing his passion for wine will be walking us through eight premium Swiss wines. Two are going to be kept a surprise but here are six

Tim completed the WSET Level 4 Diploma through the Wine Academy Austria in 2012 and become an Associate of the Institute of Wines & Spirits. In 2015 upon completion of his research thesis he received the title 'Weinakademiker' as well as winning the inaugural 'Swiss Wine Award' for his research thesis. Timothy is also an Accredited International Bordeaux Wine Educator.

Zurich Summer Grill and Adventure Walk – Sunday 12th June 

Please come and join us for a day out with grill and an activity walk for the kids. We will meet at the Sihlwald Visitors Centre for a grill and then after lunch head off for a 2km walk in the forest around the activity loop. The beginning and end of the walk is quite steep but its possible to walk a longer route with a buggy. At an easy pace the walk is about 1.5hrs.                                                          


May Summer Drinks

Please join us for our first summer gathering of 2016 in Zurich. Starting at 4pm you can bring your kids for a play in the park and sit under the trees to enjoy a cool drink and snacks. Or come along after work and enjoy the music, drinks and some great food from the grill.  
Fritschi’s Grill is run by a fellow kiwi Jasmine who makes good honest food with a few small treats from home. Check the website for more information.

 This Saturday Sam at the NZ Cafe in Langstrasse, Zurich, is offering 2 chf dirty cappuccinos.  See the attached information.  It would be great to see some Kiwis from the club there between 14:00 and 16:00 on Saturday to drink the best coffee in CH.
